Grants for PhD students : TOCHA can offer up to five grants to support the application of PhD students (registration fees only), when financial difficulties for their institution exist. The request for support must be justified in two short (1/2p) letters, one motivation letter and one recommendation letter, sent by email at @Contact (please write as a subject line "Grant for PhD students"). Deadline for application is 30/11/2023. The selection will consider both aspects of excellence and need.

Location & Access

Attendees will be hosted in the Centre Paul Langevin in Aussois, either in single or twin rooms. Upon registration, attendees will have to indicate with whom they would like to share the room.

How to access Aussois?

IMPORTANT: At arrival on Sunday 28/01 and departure on Friday 02/02, the transport of participants to/from Aussois will be organized by bus. For participants organizing their travel to/from Modane later/earlier, the transfer from/to Modane's train station to/from Aussois will be organized by taxi.  More details will be given when the winter season timetables are released (probably not before december).

By airplane & train/bus

The closest airports are in Lyon, Geneva, Turin and Milan. 

In winter, there are direct fast trains (TGV) from these airports to Modane.

Other travel options combine a fast shuttle bus and local trains.

From Lyon airport, use the bus (Flixbus or Blablabus) to travel to Chambéry Challes-les-Eaux (main train station). Then change to a train (or another bus) to Modane.

From Geneva airport, use the bus or the train to travel to Annecy (main train station). Then change to a train (or another bus) to Modane.

By train

The closest train station is in Modane (11km from Aussois).

Both regional trains and TGVs have a stop in Modane.

By car

Drive to Chambéry, then use the highway A43 “vallée de la Maurienne” to Modane (Le Freney) village. From Modane, drive to Aussois (11 kms from Modane).
